Manulife Mutual Funds receives approval to merge five funds
Toronto – Manulife Mutual Funds has received unitholder and regulatory approval to merge the following funds:
- Elliott & Page Balanced Fund into the E&P Manulife Balanced Asset Allocation Portfolio
- Elliott & Page Blue Chip Fund into the Elliott & Page Canadian Equity Fund
- Elliott & Page Global Sector Fund into the MIX Global Sector Class
- Elliott & Page Total Equity Fund into the MIX SEAMARK Total Global Equity Class
- Elliott & Page International Equity Fund into the MIX SEAMARK Total Global Equity Class
In addition, unitholders approved a change in investment objectives for the Elliott & Page RSP Total Equity Fund. Going forward, this RSP clone fund will link its performance to the MIX SEAMARK Total Global Equity Class.
To meet regulatory requirements, each merger required the approval of a majority of unitholders in each of the five terminated funds by proxy or in person at a special meeting that was held on Friday, May 7, 2004. In each instance, unitholders voted to support the proposal to consolidate the funds into the continuing funds that share similar investment mandates.
The mergers will be completed on or about Friday, May 21, 2004.
