Manulife Mutual Funds announces Simplicity portfolio enhancements

Toronto -
Manulife Mutual Funds announced today that it has made significant enhancements to the Simplicity asset allocation investment program. The enhancements follow an annual due diligence process which reviews each portfolio based on asset class, style, region, market capitalization, sector, and manager composition.

Eight new mandates and five new manager relationships will be introduced, aimed to decrease risk across each asset class by reducing manager concentration and adding investment style offsets to each category.

Of the eight new fund additions, four are new mandates (Manulife Canadian Fixed Income Fund, Manulife Canadian Equity Value Fund, Manulife Canadian Large Cap Growth Fund, Manulife U.S. Diversified Growth Fund); four are existing Manulife Mutual Funds (Manulife Canadian Equity Fund, Manulife European Opportunities Fund, Manulife Mawer Global Small Cap Fund, and Manulife Mawer World Investment Class); five are new manager relationships (Addenda Capital, Scheer Rowlett & Associates, Greystone Managed Investments Inc, Foyston, Gordon & Payne, Wellington Management); and one is a manager change (Howson Tattersall)

“Manulife employs one of the most respected asset allocation teams in the industry” said Jeff Ray, Assistant Vice-President, Manulife Mutual Funds. “Simplicity Portfolios are reviewed on a regular basis by MFC Global Investment Management and Investment Management Services, through i-Watch, an independent due diligence and monitoring service.”

“Together, they will recommend changes to the underlying portfolios as a way to improve potential investment returns while reducing overall risk. The latest series of enhancements follow extensive research and we believe the resulting portfolios represent compelling investment options for advisors and their clients.” added Mr. Ray.
