Manulife Financial and its employees donate $15,000 and more than 7,000 lbs of food to Waterloo Region agencies
Waterloo, Ontario – Manulife Financial and its employees in Kitchener-Waterloo raised $15,000 for St. John’s Kitchen and gathered 7,647 pounds of food for the Food Bank of Waterloo Region during recent events to mark the festive holiday season.
“We’re very pleased to support the local community and these organizations, particularly at this time of year,” said Bruce Gordon, Manulife Financial Executive Vice President and General Manager of Canadian Operations.
Employees generously gave cash donations of $7,100 during their annual Holiday Luncheon held on Thursday, December 18. Also during the luncheon, the Company made a gift of $8,000. The 7,647 pounds of non-perishable food donations were collected during Manulife’s annual Family Holiday Party on November 22, a food drive held on December 5, and during the holiday luncheon last Thursday.
The donations to St. John’s Kitchen and the Food Bank of Waterloo Region are in addition to Manulife’s annual $20,000 contribution to the Canadian Association of Food Banks. With more than 3,000 employees in Waterloo Region, Manulife contributes to a wide range of community initiatives and causes.
