Manulife Financial appoints new Executive Vice President, Business Development and General Counsel Toronto - Manulife Financial is pleased to announce the appointment of Jean-Paul (J-P.) Bisnaire as Executive Vice President, Business Development and General Counsel. Mr. Bisnaire, currently a partner at the law firm of Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP, will start his new role at Manulife on July 5. Mr. Bisnaire is one of Canada’s leading corporate lawyers, practising in mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance and securities. He has acted as senior counsel for many large public and private companies, in Canada and elsewhere, and for boards of directors and controlling shareholders, advising on acquisitions, divestitures, take-over bids, strategic alliances, corporate reorganizations, spin-off transactions, corporate finance and corporate governance matters. “We are delighted to have been able to attract such an outstanding individual to this critical position,” said Dominic D’Alessandro, President and Chief Executive Officer of Manulife Financial. “We look forward to drawing upon his extensive legal and business experience as we move forward to attain our vision to be the most professional life insurance company in the world.” “I am very excited about this new challenge and about working with the management team at Manulife Financial,” said Mr. Bisnaire. “It was a very difficult decision, though, to leave Davies.
