Manulife Announces New Senior Appointments
Hong Kong – Manulife Financial (stock code: 0945), a Canadian-based leading financial services provider, has announced the appointment of four senior executives in its Asian Division. Manulife (International) Limited (MIL), a member of the Manulife Financial group, has also appointed one senior executive.
Graham Chan has been appointed Assistant Vice President, Sales and Client Services, Investments, MFC Global Investment Management, responsible for developing sales and servicing strategies to support customers of Manulife’s Asian Investment Office located in Hong Kong. Mr. Chan has 10 years of financial services experience. Prior to joining Manulife, Mr. Chan held senior product development and client service management positions with several well known financial services companies in Hong Kong. Mr. Chan holds a Bachelor of Science degree (Honours) in Mathematics and Management from King’s College, University of London, United Kingdom.
Christopher Plumley has been appointed Assistant Vice President and Counsel, Asia, responsible for providing corporate and commercial legal support to Manulife’s Asia headquarters, particularly legal advice on mergers and acquisitions, compliance and information technology issues. Mr. Plumley joined Manulife in 1997, working for the Affinity Markets operation in Canada and became Assistant Vice President of its Law and Compliance Department in 2000. Mr. Plumley holds an LLB degree from Queen’s University Law School in Canada. He is currently a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Canadian Bar Association.
Rick Spring has been appointed Assistant Vice President, Regional Agency Development and Training, Asia, responsible for agent and management supervision as well as recruitment and growth in all of Manulife’s Asian territories. Mr. Spring is a seasoned agency professional with 16 years of training and management experience in the life insurance industry. He has won numerous industry awards and has led his agency teams to some of the highest industry rankings in Canada. Mr. Spring holds a Business Marketing diploma from Fanshawe College in Canada. He is a Certified Financial Planner, a Chartered Life Underwriter and a Chartered Financial Consultant.
Rose Yeung has been appointed Assistant Vice President, Taxation, Asia, responsible for all corporate and income tax issues in the Asia Pacific region. Prior to joining Manulife, she worked for the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and various leading accounting firms. Ms. Yeung specializes in providing tax and consultancy services to multinational and publicly listed companies in the region. She holds a Master’s degree in Accounting from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants and an Associate of the Hong Kong Society of Accountants.
Steven Kwok has been promoted to Assistant Vice President, Individual Insurance Administration, MIL, responsible for the day-to-day operations and administration of MIL’s Individual Insurance business. He oversees the smooth running of the Company’s administrative service, customer service centre and Individual Financial Products Project Team. Mr. Kwok has 15 years of information technology experience in the banking and insurance industries. He joined Manulife in 1994 and was promoted to Administration Project Director of MIL’s Individual Insurance operation in 1999. Mr. Kwok holds a Bachelor of Science degree (Honours) in Applied Mathematics from the University of Hong Kong. He is a Certified Financial Planner and a Fellow of Life Management Institute.
