Manulife wins double recognition for top customer service
Company awarded Next Magazine’s Top Service Award for
both “Insurance Company” and “MPF Service” categories

Hong Kong – Manulife (International) Limited (MIL) has received double recognition by winning in the “Insurance Company” and “MPF Service” categories in Next Magazine’s 2003 Top Service Award. The Company also won both awards last year, underscoring its success in continuously providing high quality and attentive service to its customers.

Next Magazine’s Top Service Award is an annual competition that acknowledges companies for their success in achieving service excellence in the eyes of consumers, and aims to enhance belief in top quality service by companies in different sectors.

“Delivering superior customer service is fundamental to Manulife’s business success,” said Mr. Ed Lau, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Hong Kong, MIL. “We have been continuously enhancing our customer service capabilities to ensure our customers receive first-rate advice and attentive service. Our company programs fully support our staff and insurance and financial advisors, who are absolutely committed towards providing the highest level of service standards on an ongoing basis. We are delighted with these awards as they recognize our efforts and dedication.”

Manulife’s enhanced customer services include the provision of a consolidated statement, which was one of the pioneer services in the insurance industry when launched in 2002. The consolidated statement provides a summary of the various accounts or policies a customer may have with Manulife, in one easy-to-read document. The Company has also increased the account management features of its customer Web site, where its MPF corporate customers can access account information and perform online tasks such as uploading contribution files and downloading forms and manuals. Individual customers can access their consolidated portfolio of accounts and policies with Manulife, perform MPF fund transfers, update contact information and e-mail their insurance and financial advisors.

“As a result of our many such initiatives and our customer-centric tradition, we have been able to win continual support and confidence from our customers. This has been evidenced by our winning the Top Service Award again this year in both the insurance company and MPF service categories,” added Mr. Lau.

Next Magazine’s Top Service Award is presented annually and winners are decided through public ballot. Votes were collected by Next Magazine and its sister publication Apple Daily, and through the Next Media Web site, and the winners were selected based upon the results of the voting. Next Magazine is Hong Kong’s most widely circulated weekly general interest magazine.
