The New “Shibuya Sales Office” Opens
As the First New Model Sales Office to be Launched Nationwide

Tokyo - Manulife Life Insurance Company (Head Office: Chofu-Shi Tokyo, President: Trevor Matthews) opened its new “Shibuya Sales Office” today, the first of the new sales offices to be launched nation-wide.

The establishment of the new “Shibuya Sales Office” is a part of the Company’s nationwide sales reorganization plan aimed to further grow its sales and recruitment of sales representatives (PlanRight Advisors, or PA).

The pillars of this plan are the introduction of a regional office system and, the establishment of new sales offices under each regional office to serve as the base for the daily sales activities of sales representatives and recruiting activities. Up to now, the company’s nationwide sales organization was comprised of 32 Branches throughout Japan. This has been consolidated into eight regional offices consisting of Hokkaido, Kita-Nippon, Kan-Shinetsu, Metropolitan Tokyo, Chubu, Kansai, Chu-Shikoku and Kyushu.

The new sales offices will be larger than existing sales offices and will be equipped with state-of-the-art IT facilities. They will have a clear distinction between sales work and administrative work so that each PA (sales representative) can receive full support for sales activities.

The new “Shibuya Sales Office” was launched as the first of this type of sales office and will undergo successive on-site testing of the new technology and the workflow of sales and administration through its operations over the next few weeks. As a “model office,” it will play a vital role in accumulating operational know-how for the new sales offices to be established sequentially throughout Japan from April.

At the inauguration of the new Shibuya Sales Office set up as the “model office” ahead of others throughout Japan, President Trevor Matthews commented that, “The goal of this Company is to become the most professional life insurance company in Japan. The opening of this new office is an important new step toward achieving this vision.”

The new sales office is located in a convenient office area, five minutes from Shibuya Station on foot. The bright and open office is equipped with a large PA’s office room that can also be used for PA meetings and training, a space for administrative staff supporting PAs and small meeting rooms, all laid out functionally and efficiently. Each PA’s desk has a jack plug for laptop PCs equipped with intranet connection and individual phones equipped with a teleconference system. PAs will be able to freely access the Intranet currently under development in Manulife Japan for sales activity support, making the new sales office a base for backing up life insurance sales professionals.
