| | Peter Rubenovitch
Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
  Peter Rubenovitch holds the position of Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Manulife Financial and is accountable for managing the financial affairs of the Company. He is responsible for Enterprise Risk Management, Actuarial, Controllers, Taxation, Treasury, Investor Relations, Reinsurance and other financial functions company-wide. As the Company’s Chief Credit Officer he is the Chairman of the Company’s Credit Committee and is also a member of the Company’s Executive and Management Committees.
In 2004, Mr. Rubenovitch was named ‘Canada’s CFO of the Year’ by Financial Executives International.
Mr. Rubenovitch holds an MBA in Finance and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Sir George Williams University, Montreal. He joined The Royal Bank of Canada in 1974 and held a number of lending and managerial positions, leading to his appointment as Vice President and Corporate Controller in 1988.
In 1989, Mr. Rubenovitch joined Globe International Inc. as Senior Executive Vice President & CFO. He was founder and President of Tion Financial Corporation, a financial consultancy, from 1992 to 1995.
Mr. Rubenovitch joined Manulife Financial in February of 1995. He was appointed Vice President, Business Development later that year, a position that included responsibility for acquisitions, divestitures, and new strategic initiatives. In January 1996, Mr. Rubenovitch was appointed Senior Vice President and Corporate Controller. Mr. Rubenovitch became Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in February 1998, and was appointed to his current position in April 2004, upon completion of the merger with John Hancock Financial Services. |
