Manulife Financial wins award for outstanding communications
-- U.S. Corporate Giving Annual Report awarded silver medal by Council on Foundations--

Boston – Manulife Financial has been named a silver award winner for excellence in communications by the 2002 Wilmer Shields Rich Awards Program. Sponsored by the Council on Foundations and the Communications Network, the awards program recognizes effective communications efforts to increase public awareness of foundations and corporate giving programs. Manulife Financial received the award for its U.S. Corporate Giving Annual Report and will receive the award at the 53rd Annual Conference of the Council on Foundations in Chicago, on Tuesday, April 30, 2002.

“We are thrilled that our U.S. Corporate Giving Annual Report, which highlights Manulife’s U.S. corporate giving missionto enhance the lives of children and strengthen neighborhoodsis being honored in such a way,” said Wendy W. Smith, Director, U.S. Communications. “This award is a great acknowledgement of Manulife’s commitment to superior communications.”

Entries to the award program included annual or biennial reports, guidelines for grantseekers, magazines/periodicals, public information campaigns and Web sites. This year 230 entries were submitted to the awards program.
