In a review of capital accumulation plan (CAP) providers in the December issue of Benefits Canada magazine, Manulife Financial ranked fourth in the following categories: Top 10 CAP Providers, Top 10 DC Plan Providers, Top 10 Group RRSP Providers and Top 10 DPSP Providers (by administered assets as of June 30, 2008). Manulife is also listed as one of the Fastest Growing CAP providers.

Manulife earns second consecutive “Excellent” rating from DALBAR for group savings plan member statements
Manulife Financial Group Savings and Retirement Solutions (GSRS) has once again received an “Excellent” rating for its year-end plan member statement, according to a recently-released study by DALBAR, a leading communications consulting firm. Manulife’s statement received 84.64 points out of 100 points, considerably higher than the industry average of 70.82 points.

In a Report on Business ranking of top Canadian equity funds, Manulife’s Canadian Large Cap Value CI fund ranks among the Top 30. The group was selected by performance in 2008 to Nov. 26 and required 90% of its equities to be in Canadian stocks after three years.

John Hancock Financial Services’ “Cursor” advertising campaign earns honours for creativity, integration
John Hancock won a Hatch Merit Award in the Broadcast Campaign category for the Cursor campaign as a whole, including the “Checks”, “Five Years” and “Plus” spots. The campaign was also recognized by the Retirement Income Industry Association, which named John Hancock’s “Plus” television ad the runner-up for the Retirement Income Best Advertising Award. John Hancock was also a finalist for three MITX (Massachusetts Innovation and Technology Exchange) awards, nominated in the following categories: Interactive Marketer of the Year, Best Brand Campaign and Best Integrated Campaign.

Manulife ranks number two on Report on Business’ Top 1000 list
According to Report on Business magazine’s annual Top 1000 list of publicly traded Canadian corporations, Manulife came in at number two and holds its spot from 2007, up from fourth place in 2006. Manulife is only second to Royal Bank of Canada. Companies are ranked according to their after–tax profits in their most recent fiscal year, excluding extraordinary gains or losses. Manulife also topped the list of insurance companies and was ranked the second largest company by market capitalization.
