At John Hancock, we build stronger communities by creating innovative programs with strategic partners to support those most in need, especially our youth. As Boston has been home to John Hancock for almost 150 years, our resources primarily serve organizations in the Boston area. | |

MLK Summer Scholars John Hancock’s MLK Summer Scholars is a 7 week summer job program, which helps develop a future skilled workforce while adding significant value to our community today. John Hancock provides funding to local, non-profit organizations to enable them to offer meaningful employment opportunities to Boston teenagers. In addition, each year, the company hires nearly 50 high schools students to work in our business units. On top of the knowledge gained from the work experience, the company also hosts a unique series of weekly job readiness and life-skills workshops at Boston University where John Hancock employees can volunteer to work with our Scholars. With over 650 youth participating, MLK Summer Scholars is the largest, most comprehensive, corporate summer jobs program of its kind in the country. Learn more about MLK Summer Scholars. |

As part of our sponsorship, John Hancock donates hundreds of guaranteed entries each year to select non-profits through our Marathon Non-Profit Program. Organizations use these entries to recruit individual runners who pledge to raise money for their cause. As a result of our program, millions of dollars are raised for community organizations each year. Learn more about the Boston Marathon.
