Ipoh - A group of agents and staff from Manulife Insurance Berhad visited the Ipoh Welfare Handicap Association and contributed RM5,000 worth of food and essential items recently.
This visit, part of Manulife’s continuous effort in aiding the underprivileged, brought together 25 agents from the combined agency offices of Lee Tuck Kheong, Gan Pung Leong and Lai Hing Wai and staff to Ipoh Welfare Handicap Association. The Ipoh Welfare Handicap Association’s is a non-profit organization, established in 1999, to support and house the disabled. Currently, it houses 82 residents.
In addition to the contribution, there was a collective effort of the agency members and staff giving the place a fresh spring-cleaning session. They also spent time visiting with the residents.
“Visiting welfare homes and providing support in various means has become a norm for Manulife agency members,” said Agency Director Yvonne Ooi of Manulife Insurance Berhad. “We have a long history of giving back to our local communities where we conduct our business. This initiative is about giving the underprivileged, hope for the future – truly a meaningful cause which makes us proud,” added Ms.Ooi.
Much to the delight of the residents, the visitors also presented a cake to celebrate the birthday of residents born in the month of June.
“On behalf of Ipoh Welfare Handicap Association, I would like to thank Manulife for this kind gesture. It is very thoughtful of Manulife to check with us on what items are needed. The food provisions would definitely help alleviate our household burden and we are grateful to Manulife for extending their assistance to us” said Mr. Ong Sang, Vice-Chairman of Ipoh Welfare Handicap Association.
