Manulife Announces New Senior Appointments

Hong Kong - Manulife has announced the appointment of one senior executive in its Hong Kong operations and two senior appointments in its investment operations respectively.

Trevor Kreel is appointed Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Hong Kong, overseeing the financial functions of Manulife’s operations in Hong Kong, including financial reporting, financial planning and control, treasury and other finance-related matters. Mr. Kreel has been with Manulife for 12 years. His most recent role was Vice President, Financial Management, Asia, where his responsibilities included valuation and earnings analysis, Capital Management and Asset Liability management for a number of Manulife’s operations in Asia. Prior to this he led the Structured Reinsurance line of business, responsible for both third party and affiliate transactions in North America, Europe and Asia. Before joining Manulife in 1995, Mr. Kreel worked for two other life and health insurers in Canada and South Africa with responsibility for pricing and valuation. Mr. Kreel holds a Bachelor of Business Science degree in Statistics and Economics from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Actuaries, a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries.

Avere Hill is appointed Vice President and Head of Institutional Sales, Asia for Manulife Asset Management and MFC Global Investment Management. In his role, Mr. Hill is responsible for business development and sales initiatives across Asia to grow funds under management for Manulife. Mr. Hill has nearly 20 years’experience for the company’s sales and relationship management functions in the Asia Pacific region. Prior to joining Manulife, Mr. Hill was based in London as a Managing Director for a U.S. financial services company, having responsibility for the bank’s largest asset management relationships in Europe. Mr. Hill holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Business Administration from the University of Liverpool (John Moore), and is a qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. He is a registered representative of the Securities and Futures Authority in the U.K.

Shirley Lam is appointed Chief Administrative Officer of Manulife Asset Management (Hong Kong) Limited – Investment Operations. In this role, Ms Lam will oversee all investment finance, accounting, risk management and operations activities across Asia, and be responsible for the improvement and upgrading of these functions to support the growth of Manulife’s business in the region. Ms Lam has wide exposure in financial services industry both in Hong Kong and Canada, with extensive work experience included managing back office operations, front line sales and relationship management. Most recently, she worked in a U.S. financial institution where she was responsible for the sales and client relationship management for its securities services business for Asia. Ms Lam holds a Bachelor of Mathematics (Honours Co-op Program) from the University of Waterloo in Canada. Ms Lam is a Chartered Accountant
