Manulife Announces New Senior Appointments

Hong Kong— Manulife Financial (stock code: 0945) announces the following senior executive appointments in its Asia Division.

Donia Lo has been promoted to Vice President, Regional Systems Development, Information Technology (IT), Asia. She has led the development and implementation of a comprehensive client administration platform across Manulife’s Asian territories for various business lines. Ms Lo has been with Manulife for more than a decade and has substantial experience in application design, system development and implementation with other leading institutions and corporations in Hong Kong and Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computational Science with Statistics from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom and is a member of the British Computer Society.

Mui Chee Leong has been made Vice President, Information Technology, Asia, responsible for supervising the delivery of quality, cost-effective and high-performance IT services and system solutions to the Company’s operations in Hong Kong and Asia. His role also covers information system risk management, as well as managing Manulife’s offshore IT software development centre in Malaysia. An IT expert with more than 23 years’ experience in the insurance industry, Mr. Mui was previously Regional Vice President of Information Technology with John Hancock International (Southeast Asia) Pte. Ltd. He holds a Diploma in Marine Engineering from the Singapore Polytechnic and a Moderated Diploma in Computer Studies from Thames Polytechnic in Singapore. He is a member of the Information Technology Managers’ Association as well as the British Computer Society.

Peter Chung has been appointed Assistant Vice President, Business Development, Asia, responsible for mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and strategic initiatives across Manulife’s operations in Asia. Mr. Chung will be actively involved in assessing, reviewing and initiating the M&A that meet the Company’s strategic and business objectives. Mr. Chung has extensive experience in financial, operational and business development with large corporate and entrepreneurial organisations across diverse industries, including financial services, software and business-process outsourcing. Mr. Chung holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance and Accounting from the University of Toronto and a Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario in Canada. He is a registered Chartered Accountant and a Certified Public Accountant.

Elizabeth Lee has been named Assistant Vice President and Senior Counsel, Asia, responsible for providing regional legal advice to Manulife’s investment offices in the Asian territories, including Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines. Mrs. Lee brings with her more than 17 years of experience in asset management, corporate finance, initial public offerings, M&A, private equities, foreign direct investment, taxation and accounting. Prior to joining Manulife, she was with an international law firm and one of the Big Four international accounting firms. Mrs. Lee is a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Economics. She was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia, a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales and a Solicitor of the High Court of Hong Kong. She is also a Chartered Accountant.
