Hong Kong— Manulife (International) Limited (MIL) is pleased to announce that one of its insurance advisor has been named “The Best Financial Planner” in Hong Kong by the Life Underwriters Association of Hong Kong (LUAHK). The award recognizes financial planners who excel in their profession. MIL nominated three of its outstanding financial planners to compete for the award, and one of them, Annie Ho, was declared the overall winner and won the Gold Award.
Michael Chan, Vice President, Distribution, Hong Kong, MIL, commented: “We are very proud of the performance of our nominees. Winning this prestigious award is an indication of the strength-in-depth of our financial-planning sector and shows the level of professionalism our specialists have arrived at.”
Competing against leading professionals from all the major insurance companies in Hong Kong, each candidate had to submit a financial plan. Shortlisted candidates then presented their plans to the judges, who rated them based on the degree of information disclosure, whether it was well-structured and recognised clients’ financial goals, whether the candidate understood the client’s financial status and made sound recommendations based on it.
The winning plan of Annie Ho, Unit Manager of Manulife’s Kowloon South District, was designed for a middle-aged, married client who has no intention of raising a family but needs to support his elderly mother financially. Annie analyzed her client’s financial situation and devised a plan that addressed his needs in terms of risk assessment, investment choices, retirement and estate planning.
Annie was delighted with the recognition. “I have gained lots of valuable experience and professional qualifications during my career with Manulife,” she said. “But this award gives me enormous satisfaction as it is a confirmation by some of the most respected people in the industry that I am good at my job.” Annie has been with MIL for more than 10 years.
Another nominee from Manulife was also short-listed and received a Certificate of Merit. Commented Michael Chan: “We would like to thank LUAHK for organising such a meaningful award, which goes a long way to enhancing the competitive edge of practitioners in this field, inspiring others to emulate their achievements. It also helps to instill confidence in the public that when placed in the proper hands, their financial-planning requirements are being met with the utmost sense of responsibility.”
LUAHK, inaugurated in 1973, is a voluntary organisation of professional insurance intermediaries dedicated to the professional development of insurance services for the community of Hong Kong. Today LUAHK has more than 8,500 members - the biggest organisation of its kind in Hong Kong.
