Manulife launches new campaign to help local communities in Thailand

Bangkok - Manulife Thailand’s top executives and staff today rolled up their sleeves to launch a ‘Bringing Dreams to Life’ partnership with Habitat for Humanity (Thailand), a local charity which builds and renovates homes for those in need. This new initiative will see Manulife Thailand’s executives and staff helping to build one such home in Sua Yai.

Mr. Bruce Hodges, Managing Director, Manulife Insurance (Thailand) Co., Ltd. explained: “As a global life insurance company with a strong commitment to Thailand and Thai people, Manulife is dedicated to improving the quality of life for its customers and the communities around the world in which we do business. That’s why the ‘Bringing Dreams to Life’ campaign is so important to us. We want to do our part to help make dreams a reality for those in need in the local community and so we are delighted to be working with Habitat for Humanity again, having already donated money to build five new homes.”

“Bringing Dreams to Life” is also the theme of Manulife’s sponsorship of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. Mr. Hodges said: “As the official life insurance partner of the 2008 Games, we are delighted to have the opportunity to support athletes as they strive to achieve their Olympic dreams. In Thailand, we are pleased to be working with Khun Paveena Thongsuk, the gold-medal winning weight-lifting champion as she prepares to represent her country at the Olympic Games next year. Our partnership with Habitat for Humanity is another way we can help bring dreams to life in the local community. We believe that this campaign will be a great platform on which to build our brand recognition and awareness amongst the Thai public as well as in other countries in the region.”

Mr. Hodges continued: “Manulife is establishing a strong business in Thailand, starting with the appointments of top executives who are experts in their fields, as well as dedicating resources to training and developing our staff as we expand our business. As far as marketing and branding strategies go, Manulife will continue to focus on activities that give back to society and contribute to improving life of Thai consumers.”

Khun Panida Panyangam, President of Habitat for Humanity (Thailand), said: “We are an organization that has been established on the principles of love and care towards the community and we are very pleased to be part of this beneficial social project with Manulife. We strongly feel that this kind of project helps to improve the quality of life of its members, and this is a great start to helping many other Thais in the future. We are ready to provide any support we can in helping this project and others to address our objective of raising the standards of living of Thai people.”
