Manulife repeat winner of “Quality” Award

Hong Kong— For the second year running, Manulife (International) Limited (MIL) has been recognised by readers of East Week magazine as Hong Kong’s top-quality insurance company.

The popular Chinese-language publication launched its “Quality Living Awards” last year and Manulife triumphed in the insurance-company category. This year, the Awards have been re-titled the “Hong Kong Service Awards” — and again, Manulife has been voted the best in its field.

Michael Chan, Vice President, Distribution, Hong Kong, MIL, commented at the prize presentation ceremony: “We are pleased with this acknowledgement of our achievements as we celebrate our 110th anniversary in Hong Kong. For more than a century, we have successfully built a solid reputation in the territory by adhering to our core values in serving our customers, which has become our biggest asset. The objectives of the “Hong Kong Service Awards” are to pay tribute to those services and products that enhance the quality of life in the HKSAR, in areas ranging from finance, security, health, education, the environment and urban infrastructure to daily necessities. The Awards are meant both to raise awareness of the levels of living standards that Hong Kong society, through the efforts of its people, has attained, and to recognise and encourage the innovation and creativity of the various industries that have contributed to this progress.

The judging process started with nominations by the editorial board of the magazine and a specially constituted awards committee, followed by more than two weeks of public voting, both in the magazine and on its Web site. The company or brand in each industry with the highest number of votes wins – and Manulife topped the insurance category again this year. There were more than 180 nominees in 38 industry categories listed in the poll competing for the 2007 Awards.

Earlier this month, Manulife topped the inaugural Sing Tao Excellent Services Brands Awards 2006. The Awards were introduced to recognise the contribution of service delivery by companies that make particular appeal to well-educated and lifestyle-conscious consumers, and to encourage its emulation.
