MFC Global Investment Management Further Enhances Capabilities With Key Hires In Tokyo, Hong Kong, London

Toronto– As part of the ongoing strengthening of its international investment management capabilities, MFC Global Investment Management has appointed three investment professionals to its teams in Tokyo, Hong Kong and London.

Naru Ishida was named Chief Investment Officer and Representative Director for MFC Global Japan. Tahnoon Pasha was named Vice President and Head of Investments, Equities in Hong Kong. Gregor Rapprich was named Portfolio Manager, European Equities.

Naru Ishida
Mr. Ishida, who will be based in MFC Global’s Tokyo office, will be responsible for overseeing management of the organization’s Japanese investment operations. His appointment was effective February 1.

Before joining MFC Global, Mr. Ishida, who has more than two decades of investment management experience, was Senior Portfolio Manager and Managing Director for SEI Investments in Tokyo. He also had worked at Towers Perrin Management Consultants and at Dai-Ichi Mutual Life Insurance Company.

He graduated from Osaka City University with a B.A. in Business and Commerce. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Tahnoon Pasha
Mr. Pasha, who will be based in MFC Global’s Hong Kong office, will be responsible for overseeing management of the organization’s Asian (ex-Japan) equity portfolios. He will report to Mr. Shed and his appointment was effective February 1.

Mr. Pasha joins MFC Global with nearly two decades of equity investment management experience. His last role was Deputy Chief Investment Officer for Asia and Head of Research for the Emerging Markets Department of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. ADIA is the investment manager of the superannuation fund of the government of Abu Dhabi, investing the surplus oil revenues of the Emirate and is one of the world’s largest government controlled investment managers.

Mr. Pasha, who had been with ADIA since 1990, has held a number of roles of increasing authority within the organization and covered the Far East throughout his tenure there.

He graduated from the University of Karachi, Pakistan, with a Bachelor of Business Administration and later earned an MBA there. He holds the CFA designation.

Gregor Rapprich
Mr. Rapprich, who will be based in MFC Global’s London office, will direct equity investing in Europe, including the developed markets of Western Europe and the emerging markets in Eastern Europe. He will report to Steve Tyson, Chief Investment Officer, MFC Global Investment Management (Europe) and his appointment was effective January 29.

Mr. Rapprich has nine years of experience as a European equity portfolio manager at Lloyds TSB Group, Govett Investments, Merchant Securities and Bank of Butterfield.

He graduated from the University of Essex with a B.A. in Economics and later earned a Master in Economics from University College of London. He holds the CFA designation.
