Jakarta – PT. Manulife Aset Manajemen Indonesia has appointed Nicolaos Oentung as Head of Equities. Mr Oentung, who will be based in Jakarta, will oversee the equity team of three and will help manage IDR 20.5 trillion (approx. US$1.94billion) in assets under management1.
Mr Oentung reports to Colin Ng, Head of Asia Pacific Equities, in Hong Kong, feeding into MFC Global Investment Management’s Asia Pacific Equity investment strategy and Raymond Gin, Chief Investment Officer of PT. Manulife Aset Manajemen Indonesia and is responsible for the country’s equity portfolios.
Mr. Oentung is a top ranked banking analyst2 and brings with him detailed experience of the Indonesian investment industry, having previously been a Senior Research Analyst with CLSA in Indonesia. Prior to CLSA, Mr. Oentung worked at Merrill Lynch Indonesia and Bahana Securities. In these roles, he led the investment research in key areas such as the auto, banking and consumer sectors in Indonesia.
Raymond Gin, Chief Investment Officer of PT. Manulife Aset Manajemen Indonesia said: “We are delighted that Nicolaos is heading our equity team. His skills and expertise will be instrumental in helping us to develop further our award-winning fund management capabilities.”

Mr Oentung’s appointment is another in a series of important hires that PT Manulife Aset Manajemen Indonesia has made in 2009 and follows closely the announcement that the company is expanding its third party institutional business with the appointment of Melinda Wiria as head of institutional sales.
In May 2009, the company was named Onshore Investment House of the Year Indonesia at the 2009 Asian Investor Asian Investment Performance Awards.
