Bangkok - Manulife Thailand today donated 5,000 protective medical face masks to the Bureau of Emerging Infectious Diseases, Department of Disease Control in the Ministry of Public Health, to help prevent and control of the spread of influenza A(H1N1), commonly known as Swine Flu.

Mr. Christopher Teo, President and Chief Executive Officer of Manulife Insurance (Thailand) Public Company Limited said: “Manulife is monitoring the emerging influenza situation closely, and is doing everything possible to support the health and well-being of our staff, financial planners and agency forces. We have encouraged everyone to wash their hands regularly, one of the tools to fight the disease’s spread, and we have prepared masks for all staff on a standby basis. We are also passing out information about the disease to help keep everyone informed.”

The donation aims to provide face marks to people in villages around Bangkok and vicinity who have influenza-like symptoms and can’t afford them to help prevent and control of the spread of A(H1N1).

Added Mr. Teo: “This is another social project through which Manulife hopes to improve the community’s quality of life by focusing on the most needy, a key objective of our motto ‘Bringing Dreams to Life’.”
