Hong Kong — Manulife Financial (stock code: 0945), a leading Canadian-based financial services group, and Manulife (International) Limited (MIL), a member of the Manulife Financial group, announce the appointments of the following senior executives.
Fiona Chanhas been appointed Assistant Vice President, Regional Brand Development and Communications, reporting to Cliff Davis, Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Asia Division. Based in Hong Kong, Ms Chan leads strategic brand development and corporate communications for Asia. Prior to joining Manulife, Ms Chan was the Head of Corporate Affairs, Malaysia, at a leading international bank. During her five years with the bank, she was also regional senior communications manager of its Asia office. Ms Chan began her career as a reporter in the South China Morning Post and worked at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the central bank in Hong Kong, for ten years.
Kenny Thing has been appointed Assistant Vice President, Business Development and Marketing, Individual Financial Products, reporting to George Chew, Vice President and Head of Individual Financial Products for Manulife Hong Kong. Mr. Thing is responsible for expanding the insurer’s individual insurance business in Hong Kong, and marketing its wide range of insurance products through agency and other channels. Prior to joining Manulife, Mr. Thing worked in a leading global reinsurer looking at growing the company’s inorganic business in Southeast Asia. He has also worked as an investment banker focusing on providing financial institutions’ solution and has experience in helping another leading insurance company build up its individual financial-advisor business and unit trusts platform. Mr. Thing holds a Master of Science degree in finance and a fund-management dealing license in Singapore.
Mark Richmond has been appointed Assistant Vice President, Agency Operations, Hong Kong, reporting to Emil Lee, Vice President and Chief Agency Officer for Manulife Hong Kong. Mr. Richmond is responsible for recruitment, compensation, training and development, agent support, technology development and management information system under Agency Operations. Prior to this position, Mr. Richmond was Head of Bancassurance and Alternative Distribution in Manulife Indonesia where he doubled the number of active bank relationships and helped the company to achieve a significant business growth within two years.. Before his transfer to the Southeast Asia, Mr. Richmond was Assistant Vice President, Manulife University, in Hong Kong. Prior to joining Manulife in Hong Kong, Mr. Richmond has more than 20 years of diverse management experience in the financial services industry in the U.K., where he held several senior management roles with a number of leading life insurance and wealth management companies.
