BANGKOK- Manulife Thailand is proud to be supporting the “Cancer Care” Charity Fun Run on Saturday January 29, 2011. The run, which begins and ends in Lumpini Park, will raise vital funds for research projects currently conducted by the Genetic Cancer Research Center at Chulalongkorn Hospital.

Said Mr. Alan Ng, President and Chief Executive Officer, Manulife Insurance (Thailand) Public Company Limited: “Cancer is a dreadful disease and we believe it's important for us to support research that can help find a cure. Manulife is in the financial protection business and we naturally feel a strong obligation to help raise public awareness against the disease and to work with the community to fight against it.” 

“I have been overjoyed to see overwhelming response from our staff and agents who have done so much to participate in the event,” Mr. Ng continued. “We had agents knocking on doors in the neighborhood, inviting customers and friends to participate with us.  Altogether we have over 1000 people who have pledged to run to help raise awareness in the Community. It is really touching to see.”

The 1000 participants ensure Manulife will meet its goal of contributing “1000 steps” toward cancer research and helping the community.

The Cancer Care Run promises to be a fun and enjoyable Saturday outing for families, joggers and health enthusiasts of all ages. Both the 5 km and 10 km routes are perfect for running and walking.  People of all ages including families with young children are welcome to participate and children can win prizes during a number of special contests planned. A Queen’s trophy will be awarded to the largest group and prizes will be given for those who reach the finish line for the 5 km and 10 km runs. Registration is from 7:00 am to 7:45 am and the official starting time is at 8:05 am.
