Kuala Lumpur - Manulife Financial, parent company of Manulife Holdings Bhd, this year celebrates its 125^th global anniversary and 115 years in Asia. To mark the occasion, management and staff of Manulife Malaysia have joined hands to provide total of 1,250 children’s books in an effort to bring the gift of knowledge to underprivileged children.

The month-long book donation campaign encourages every staff member to contribute pre-loved as well as new books as part of its mission to build a better future for children in Malaysia. The books will be gifted to the library of The Pure Life Society, a home for underprivileged kids.

“It is with great honor to give back to society as we celebrate our global 125^th anniversary. A book is the greatest gift any child could receive and the knowledge gained from these books will be priceless for the future of the children of Pure Life Society,” said Alex Wong, Chief Financial Officer of Manulife Holdings Berhad at the Manulife 125^thAnniversary event held at Menara Manulife.

The 125^th Anniversary event is part of a global celebration held across Manulife’s global network of offices around the world. The event in Malaysia gathered over 200 Manulife staff members to celebrate the company’s long history of enriching lives through financial services and products offered by the company.

At the ceremony, a Manulife cube filled with contributed books together with a giant-size cheque was presented to Mr P. Subramaniam, representative of the Pure Life Society.

“Serving customers worldwide for 125 years is the best testimony of the integrity of our business. With the help of our staff and agency members, we strive to grow even stronger and more reliable than we already are. So as well as a birthday celebration, the book donation is our way of championing the future, both ours and the children who will benefit from reading them,” added Alex Wong.

The Pure Life Society
The Pure Life Society is a non profit organization and provides home to underprivileged children. The Home currently houses 66 children and the senior administrator is Mr. P.Subramaniam.
