Maximize your investment potential with Manulife Philippines' Affluence Builder Series

Makati City, Philippines – Have you decided what to do with your hard-earned money? Instead of spending it all, why not invest a portion in a variable life insurance plan that offers regular savings opportunities, high earnings potential and life protection coverage?

Manulife Philippines’ variable life insurance products provide policyowners with a potentially high return on their investments. Funds for this type of life insurance can be invested in separate accounts, which allow for investment in the stocks of prime corporations and bond markets. Policyowners can choose between peso and dollar funds to optimize their return potential.

Thus, Manulife Philippines, a pioneering and leading life insurance company in the Philippines, continues its legacy of offering best-in-class financial products and services through its new variable life insurance product,  the Affluence Builder Series.

Manulife’s Affluence Builder Series is a regular-pay variable life insurance product that enables policyowners to maximize their investment potential and enjoy life protection coverage.

The Affluence Builder Series delivers affordable and flexible insurance coverage that can be customized at any time to take full advantage of the most favorable market conditions and enable optimal return for policyholders. You can even build up your investment and increase your protection coverage by an amount equal to 125 percent of  top-ups.

There are three (3) Affluence Builder Series variants: Affluence Builder Protect, Affluence Builder Achieve and Affluence Builder Gold — each catering to a distinct need or investment goal. Manulife Philippines designed the Affluence Builder Series to achieve optimal return potential with very low minimum premium payments. For Affluence Builder Achieve and Affluence Builder Gold, protection coverage amount options are 5 to 20 or 5 to 25 times the annual basic premium depending on the variant.

  • Affluence Builder Achieve is a peso- and dollar-denominated variable life insurance product with a minimum five-year pay period. It is designed to help secure the future education and other expense requirements of beneficiaries, and to provide flexible life insurance coverage for the policyowner. Yearly basic premium payments begin at PHP 50,000 or USD 1,0001.
  • Affluence Builder Gold caters to the policyowner’s future retirement and general expense needs. This is a peso- and dollar-denominated product with a minimum 10-year pay period. Yearly basic premium payments start at PHP 40,000 or USD 8002.
  • Affluence Builder Protect, on the other hand, is a flexible peso- and dollar-denominated life coverage product that offers the policyowner optimum protection. Regular payments start at only PHP 18,000 or USD 3603 per annum, which is about PHP 1,500 or USD 30 per month, but offers protection coverage of 15 to 150 times the annual basic premium.

The policyholder may choose to allocate his or her premium among any of the following professionally-managed fund options — Peso Secure Fund, Peso Diversified Value Fund, Peso Growth Fund, US Dollar Secure Fund, US Dollar Asia Pacific Bond Fund and US Dollar ASEAN Growth Fund. These funds managed by Manulife Philippines or by a global network of interconnected investment professionals under Manulife Asset Management, the asset management division of Manulife Financial — are invested in government securities and/or high-quality corporate debt securities and/or pooled funds, depending on the fund. According to Manulife Philippines, as of November 26, 2012, the annualized returns of these funds since inception ranged from 9.19 percent (for Peso Secure Fund) to 28.57 percent (for Peso Growth Fund)—much higher than the interest rates offered by banks for regular savings or time deposit accounts.

For emergencies, policyowners can access their investment when needed through Fund Withdrawal, although this is subject to current rules on withdrawal, minimum fund balance and applicable charges.

Policyowners are also given the chance to earn loyalty bonuses equal to a percentage of the average Account Value, excluding top-up contributions, given at the end of the fifth year and every four years thereafter.

Accidental death benefit and accelerated total and permanent disability insurance coverage are available to the life insured as built-in protection features.
