Direct deposit of dividends

For Registered and Ownership Statement holders

In Canada, the United States and Hong Kong direct deposit of MFC dividends into your bank account can be arranged through our local stock transfer agents.

Eligible dividend designation

For purposes of the enhanced dividend tax credit rules contained in the Income Tax Act (Canada) and any corresponding provincial and territorial tax legislation, all dividends (and deemed dividends) paid on the Common and Preferred shares of Manulife Financial Corporation to Canadian residents after December 31, 2005, are designated as "eligible dividends". Unless stated otherwise, all dividends (and deemed dividends) paid by MFC hereafter are designated as "eligible dividends" for the purposes of such rules.

Dividend tax receipts

For Registered and Ownership Statement Holders  

For Canadian holders: 

• Tax receipts for Canadian holders are sent out by our stock transfer agent by the end of February of the next calendar year 

For US Holders:

• Tax receipts for U.S. residents who receive their dividends in check form are attached to the last dividend payment of the year (sent out in late December).
• Tax receipts for all other U.S. residents are sent out by our stock transfer agent by the end of January of the next calendar year. 

For holders outside Canada and US:

• Tax receipts for holders outside Canada and the U.S. are sent out by our stock transfer agent by the end of March of the next calendar year

Dividend reinvestment plans

Manulife offers Dividend Reinvestment and Share Purchase Plans to Canadian and U.S. resident holders. These Plans are convenient and easy to use.  Participants can change or terminate their participation in the Plans at any time.

The Canadian and US plans allow you to:

• Have your MFC common share dividend automatically reinvested without paying certain fees or brokerage commissions
• Purchase additional Shares on the dates on which we pay cash dividends on our Shares, also without paying certain fees or brokerage commissions
• Sell the Shares you hold through the Plan, subject to certain fees and brokerage commissions, and
• Have easy access to your account through 24/7 online access
