You provide for everyone today. What about your child's tomorrow?

We are known for being generous with our time, support, and money. For many Filipino families, being there for the people we love is simply part of life. Whether your parents need help with medical expenses or a sibling needs a little financial assistance, we find a way. That is one of the many things that makes the family feel like family.

But while everyone needs a little something from the same budget, you still have your own bills, groceries, emergencies, and everything else that comes with everyday life. Before you know it, even the best intentions can leave you with less room for the plans you had in mind.

So, when all is said and done, would you still have something set aside for your child’s education? Will it be enough? And how far can it take them? Tuition is only the beginning.  School supplies, daily allowance, transportation, extracurricular activities, and other school expenses can all add up. And if they end up studying away from home, there is a dorm to add to the list, too.

For many Filipino families, this is a familiar reality. According to the 2026 Manulife Asia Care Survey, more than three quarters of Filipinos aged 25 to 44 have family financial responsibilities, while 1 in 4 belongs to the sandwich generation, supporting both aging parents and their own children.

For those caught in the middle, these responsibilities can make long-term planning harder. 74% say family financial responsibilities hinder their ability to develop self-reliance, while 71% report delaying medical care because of caregiving and financial responsibilities.

When today’s needs keep coming, it can be tempting to put your child’s education on hold. But the years leading up to college can pass faster than expected.

Starting early and setting aside even small, consistent contributions can give education a place in your financial plans, even when other priorities come along. Manulife Plans can help you prepare for your child's education, giving them opportunities ranging from quality education to new experiences and future possibilities.

Because there will always be someone who needs your help today. But your child’s future is worth making room for, too. A little preparation today can help keep their dreams within reach.
