Manulife Singapore Launches New Indexed-Linked Solutions to Support Wealth Growth, Income and Legacy Planning

Posted :

SINGAPORE – Manulife Singapore has launched Manulife Indexed Wealth (MIW) and Manulife Indexed Income (MII) – two market-first whole-life SGD-denominated indexed universal life solutions designed to help customers grow, manage and transfer wealth with greater confidence.

Purpose-built for different customer priorities and life stages, both solutions combine market index-linked growth potential with built-in safeguards and flexibility that supports customers across different life stages – from wealth accumulation to legacy planning and lifetime income stream as described below.

As Singapore’s mass affluent segment grows1, wealth planning priorities are becoming more complex, especially amid longer life expectancies, rising financial responsibilities and continued market uncertainty. According to Manulife’s Asia Care Survey 2026, nearly eight in ten (78%) adults in Singapore are concerned about outliving their savings, while 70% worry about their ability to afford future care needs. This reinforces the need for solutions that can support customers through different life stages, whether they are building long-term wealth, planning for retirement income or preparing to pass on a legacy.

“We are seeing a shift in how mass affluent customers approach wealth,” said Frank O'Neill, Chief Product Officer, Manulife Singapore. “Growth remains important, but customers are also placing greater emphasis on preserving what they have built, staying invested through market volatility and planning confidently for the next generation. These solutions were developed in response to that mindset, offering Singapore dollar-denominated market-linked growth potential with built-in safeguards, flexibility and continuity for long-term planning.”

Manulife Indexed Wealth: Designed for Disciplined, Long-Term Wealth Accumulation

MIW is designed for mass affluent individuals focused on building financial independence and long-term wealth accumulation, as well as those seeking a disciplined way to grow and pass on wealth to the next generation.

  • Choice of one of the two globally recognised index sub-accounts within an SGD-denominated structure, offering market-linked growth with built-in downside protection:

    • S&P 500 10% Buffer Index Sub-account: A first-in-market[ET5.1][BW5.2], non-volatility-controlled index offered in SGD, designed to help cushion up to 10% of market losses.

    • S&P PRISM Index Sub-account (USD): A volatility-controlled multi-asset index, offering a 0% floor crediting rate with diversified exposure across equities, fixed income and commodities, and accessible only through an SGD insurance policy.

  • Flexibility to adapt as needs change: From policy year 2, policyholders can switch or reallocate the funds between Fixed2 and Index Accounts, or switch between different index sub-accounts, providing the freedom to adjust strategies as goals evolve.

  • Greater certainty with clear predictable costs: Enjoy zero upfront charges with administration fees stopped after policy year 10 and no surrender charges from policy year 15. This means lower overall policy costs, and greater potential for cash value growth over time.

Manulife Indexed Income (MII): Designed to Provide Potential Income for Life with Market Benchmarking

The need for sustainable retirement income is becoming increasingly important as Singaporeans live longer. The Manulife Asia Care Survey 2026 also found that of those taking steps to strengthen their financial wellbeing, one in three (34%) are shifting towards income-generating investments to support longer-term needs.

MII is designed for customers seeking passive, lifetime income in their next stage of life, as well as individuals planning ahead to ensure their accumulated wealth can be smoothly transferred to the next generation.

The plan enables customers to start receiving regular monthly income from as early as policy year 2, while staying invested.

Key benefits include:

  • Market-linked growth: Participate in the growth potential of the S&P PRISM Index Sub-account (USD), a diversified multi-asset index, while maintaining the policy in SGD, and enjoying a potential lifetime income stream. A guaranteed 0% floor crediting rate ensures no negative interest is credited during market downturns.

  • Flexible income payouts: Customers can start or stop monthly income payout based on changing financial needs.

  • Guaranteed Minimum Surrender Value (MSV): Provides added reassurance by ensuring the amount you receive is higher than the premiums paid.

Built for Flexibility and Wealth Continuity Across Generations

Both MIW and MII are designed to give customers greater flexibility throughout their wealth journey, while supporting continuity beyond the policyholder’s lifetime. Both products offer lifelong coverage for death and terminal illness, and the flexibility to change the Life Insured4, nominate a Secondary Life Insured4 or Contingent Policy Owner.4 Together, these features support customers across key life stages – from disciplined wealth accumulation to income flexibility and legacy planning – without requiring rigid exit strategies.
