Manulife Singapore Launches New Whole Life Solutions for High-Net-Worth Customers to Protect, Grow and Pass on Wealth with Confidence

Posted :

SINGAPORE – Manulife Singapore has launched Signature Life Elite (USD) (SLE) and Signature Life Prestige (USD) (SLP), two new USD-denominated whole life insurance solutions that help customers protect their wealth from day one, grow it over time and transfer it seamlessly, while providing the flexibility to adapt to evolving needs along the way. Both solutions support the changing needs of high-net-worth (HNW) individuals as they place greater emphasis on resilience, adaptability and wealth continuity.

Signature Life Elite (USD):
Designed for customers who prioritise protection certainty and immediate legacy creation, such as individuals with significant financial responsibilities and business owners. With a higher level of guaranteed protection from inception, it helps customers safeguard their wealth and provide for loved ones from day one.

Signature Life Prestige (USD):
Built for customers who value the certainty of being protected and leaving a guaranteed legacy while maximising the long-term growth potential of their wealth. By pairing a guaranteed death benefit with the opportunity to accumulate value through non-guaranteed bonuses, it helps customers plan for legacy goals with greater confidence.

Combining Immediate Protection, Long-Term Growth and Flexibility

Faced with longer lives and more complex family and business structures, recent research1 by Manulife and FT Longitude, the thought leadership division of the Financial Times group, found that nearly two-thirds (64%) of Singapore HNW respondents believe how their wealth support them across life stages and evolve with their needs is more important than wealth accumulation alone. These findings reflect a growing demand for solutions that can provide certainty and flexibility today, while preserving wealth for the future – a focus for both SLE and SLP.

Key features for both solutions include:

  • High protection from day one: Guaranteed death and terminal illness protection throughout the policy term, providing customers and their families with financial certainty and liquidity.

  • Long-term wealth accumulation: Enables policy value to grow over time through non-guaranteed bonuses2, helping to meet legacy goals.

  • Liquidity as priorities change: Allows policyholders to withdraw up to 50% of Surrender Bonus from Policy Year 16 onwards3 to respond to changing needs or opportunities while retaining the policy for continued wealth building.

  • Flexibility during times of need without surrendering coverage: Allows customers to access up to 100% of Surrender Bonus upon diagnosis of a designated illness4, providing peace of mind during critical health events without dismantling their policy.

“High-net-worth customers are changing how they structure their wealth – from simply building wealth to building resilience,” said Frank O'Neill, Chief Product Officer, Manulife Singapore. “They want confidence that what they have created can withstand uncertainty, adapt to different personal and business circumstances throughout their lifetime and ultimately be transferred according to their wishes. Signature Life Elite and Signature Life Prestige were designed to meet these evolving expectations and support our customers across life stages.”

Both SLE and SLP also incorporate succession planning features, providing the option for smoother wealth transfer and ownership continuity:

  • Death Benefit Inheritance Option (DBIO)5: Allows policyholders to structure death benefit payouts in annual instalments over a chosen period from 2 to 10 years, providing beneficiaries with sustained financial support.

  • Contingent Policy Owner Option6: Supports a smoother ownership transition for individual-owned policies, if the original Policy Owner passes away or is diagnosed with mental incapacity.

  • Change of Life Insured7: For corporate-owned policies, the life insured can be changed in the event of unforeseen circumstances so the policy value can continue to grow and be passed on to the next key person in the business.

Together, SLE and SLP further strengthens Manulife Singapore's suite of solutions for HNW individuals seeking greater certainty, flexibility and continuity in their wealth planning.
