Absolute Assignment

Use this option to transfer full ownership of your policy to another individual or entity through an absolute assignment.

What you need to know

An absolute assignment transfers full ownership of the policy from the current policy owner (Assignor) to another person or entity (Assignee). Once the assignment is completed, the Assignee assumes all rights and control over the policy.

The Assignor may regain ownership only if the Assignee subsequently assigns the policy back.
 

  • Both the Assignor and Assignee must be at least 18 years old.
  • If either the Assignor or Assignee is below 18 years old, please reach out to us through our Manulife Singapore website under Self Services and Claims - Contact Us. 


1. Download and complete the Absolute Assignment to an Individual Form.

2. Refer to the “Checklist” in the form and prepare the required supporting documents.

3. Print the form and obtain signatures from the Assignor, Assignee and two other witnesses. Ensure all signatures are provided in wet blue ink.

4. Mail the completed original hard copy form, along with any supporting documents (if applicable) to the following address:

Note:
 

  • If any corrections are made to the form, the person making the correction must countersign beside the amendment.
  • If the Assignor and Assignee sign on different dates, the effective date of the assignment will be the later of the two signing date
     


1.  Download and complete the Absolute Assignment to an Entity Form.

2. Refer to the “Checklist” in the form and prepare the required supporting documents.

3. Download and complete the Corporate Owner Certification Form and Corporate Policy Owner Authorised Signatory Form.

4. Print all forms and obtain signatures by all parties. Ensure all signatures are provided in wet blue ink.

5. Mail the completed original hard copy form, along with any supporting documents (if applicable) to the following address:

FAQs


Not all policies are eligible for Absolute Assignment. The following policies cannot be assigned:
 

  • Policies that are not in force
  • Policies purchased using CPF Investment Scheme (CPFIS-OA/SA) funds
  • Policies purchased using Supplementary Retirement Scheme (SRS) funds
  • Policies under a trust nomination, unless the trust nomination has been revoked with the consent of all trustees and beneficiaries
  • Policies pledged under the Home Protection Scheme (HPS) exemption

A witness must:
 

  • The Assignor and Assignee must be at least 18 years old.
  • Witnesses must be at least 21 years old and cannot be the Assignor or Assignee.
     


A witness must:
 

  • Be at least 21 years old; and
  • Not be the Assignor or Assignee.
     


Yes. If the Assignor and Assignee sign on different dates, the effective date of the Absolute Assignment will be the later of the two signing dates.
 

 

  • Requests received before 3pm will be processed in 3 business days.
  • Requests received after 3pm will be treated as received on the next business day.
     

If your request requires additional review or special handling, processing may take longer. We will contact you if further information or supporting documents are required and keep you updated on the status of your request.
