Set up a GIRO arrangement
Arrange for premium payments to be automatically deducted from your bank account through GIRO. Choose one of the following methods based on your eligibility.
What you need to know
GIRO offers a convenient and reliable way to pay your premiums. Through automatic deductions from your bank account, you can ensure payments are made on time while maintaining continuous policy coverage.
Apply for eGIRO
eGIRO (electronic GIRO) is a collaborative effort between the Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS), Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), and financial institutions. This initiative digitises the GIRO application process, resulting in a significant reduction in the GIRO set-up turnaround time to just a few minutes.
Who is this for:
- Individual policy owners with Singapore dollar (SGD)-denominated regular premium policies (excluding CPF/SRS-funded policies) who hold an account with any of the nine participating banks: DBS/POSB, OCBC, UOB, Citibank, Standard Chartered, HSBC, Maybank, ICBC, and Bank of China.
1. Log in to your account on MyManulife or the Manulife SG App.
2. Click on the "Services" tab, then select “GIRO Application”.
3. Select the policy that you wish to apply for GIRO arrangement.
4. Select the bank for your GIRO arrangement, then confirm your details and premium amount.
5. You will be directed to the bank’s website to complete the GIRO application.
6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process. You will receive a notification once the request is processed.
Apply for GIRO via POSB or DBS website
Who is this for:
- Corporate policy owners with Singapore dollar (SGD)-denominated policies who hold a DBS or POSB account.
- Policy owners with Singapore dollar (SGD)-denominated policies assigned as collateral who are DBS or POSB account holders.
1. Visit POSB or DBS website and login to your digibank account.
2. Go to "Add GIRO Arrangement".
3. Under Billing Organisation, select Manulife (S) Pte Ltd from the dropdown list.
4. Key in your Manulife Policy Number as the Bill Reference Number.
5. Check the "I do not want to set a payment limit" if you do not wish to set a payment limit.
6. If you wish to set a payment limit for the policy indicated, do enter the payment limit. By setting this payment limit, it limits the amount Manulife can collect from the selected bank account for the specific policy. A collection of the bill that exceeds this limit will be rejected.

| Type of Policies | Premium Due Date | First Deduction Date | Second Deduction Date |
| Whole Life, Term, Endowment, Retirement, Investment-linked Policies | 1st to 15th | 16th of the current month | 2nd of the next month |

Note:
- You will be informed of the GIRO deduction date in our approval letter once your GIRO application is approved.
- Should the scheduled deduction fall on a non-business day, the deduction will take place on the next business day.
- Your premium will be sent to the bank 5 business days prior to the actual deduction date. Therefore, any payments made during this period will not be able to stop the GIRO deduction, and any policy changes will not be reflected.
- GIRO deduction will not take place if the policy is under Premium Holiday or Premium Shortfall Charge.
- Change of bank account number will not change existing GIRO deduction date.
If your first GIRO deduction fails, we will attempt to make another deduction on the next scheduled date, as long as the policy is still in force. The GIRO deduction is scheduled on the 2nd or 16th of every month for all Manulife policies.
Hard copy GIRO applications are only available to:
- Corporate policy owners who are not DBS or POSB account holders; or
- Individual policy owners who wish to set up a GIRO arrangement with a bank that is not one of the nine participating banks: DBS/POSB, OCBC, UOB, Citibank, Standard Chartered, HSBC, Maybank, ICBC, and Bank of China.

There are no fees or charges associated with setting up a GIRO arrangement.
To change the bank account used for GIRO deductions, simply set up a new GIRO arrangement. Once the new arrangement is successfully activated, it will automatically replace your existing GIRO arrangement. There is no need to cancel your existing GIRO arrangement before applying.
eGIRO is a quick and convenient way to apply for GIRO, with setup typically completed within minutes.
For hard copy GIRO applications submitted using the Interbank GIRO Application Form, please allow up to 60 days for the GIRO arrangement to be processed and activated.
Once your GIRO arrangement has been successfully set up, we will send you a GIRO approval notification indicating the start date of your GIRO deductions. The notification will be delivered via electronic statements or mail, based on your preferred document delivery method.
For each scheduled GIRO deduction, we will submit a request to your bank to deduct the premium from your designated bank account. Depending on your notification settings with your bank, you may receive a notification when the deduction is made. You may also refer to your bank statement to confirm the deduction.
If a GIRO deduction is unsuccessful, we will send you a Notice of Unsuccessful GIRO Deduction. If the unsuccessful deduction is the first attempt and your policy remains in force, we will make a second deduction attempt.
