New CAP Guideline
On September 9, 2024, the Canadian Association of Pension Supervisory Authorities (CAPSA) published the updated “Guideline No. 3—guideline for capital accumulation plans (CAP Guideline),” marking the first update since 2004.
To help you understand these changes, we’ve developed the following resources:
- An updated CAP Guideline landing page with links to relevant resources, including the updated guideline from CAPSA and links to relevant resources
- A position paper, “Understanding the modernized CAP Guideline,” offering a comprehensive look at the updates and their potential implications
- An informative webinar reviewing our position paper on the CAP changes. The webinar will be offered on October 17, 23, and 29. You can register for one of the dates here

Smart$ense—financial literacy for kids
To mark financial literacy month, we’ve created educational resources that you can offer your members to help their kids understand the basics of personal finance.
Our dedicated Smart$ense page includes a range of fun resources to help different age groups learn about money, how it works, and why it’s important to have financial knowledge. The Smart$ense page will also be shared with members in our upcoming financial well-being quarterly.
New Investment Watch (i-Watch®) resource launched

The landing page features our i-Watch notices and alerts, now available to you for a transparent understanding of Manulife’s formal fund and fund manager selection process, the ongoing monitoring of fund managers, and links to the most used resources.

As of January 1, 2025, holders of Quebec-regulated LIF accounts can expect a few new legislative changes. These changes do not require any immediate action from you or your members, but we’ll be sending all affected members an email or letter explaining these changes very soon. In the meantime, we’ll be updating our LIF product information to include the changes.

If members would like to change the amount that they withdraw from their LIF, they can work with their advisor or call Manulife.

Upcoming changes to fund names
We’d like to advise you that we’re making minor changes to the investment lineup by renaming several funds, which will be reflected on your investment platform. There is no action required from you or plan members who have invested in the applicable funds. In the coming months, we’ll provide details on where to find more information.
