John Hancock Launches Friends Who Talk About Money™ Podcast

July 7, 2020

Claire Wasserman of Ladies Get Paid Hosts New Original Podcast Featuring
Honest Conversations About Personal Finance

BOSTON – John Hancock today announced the launch of a new podcast, Friends Who Talk About Money™, to normalize and celebrate meaningful dialogue about money with family and friends. The podcast is the latest initiative as part of John Hancock’s holistic brand marketing approach that uses insights to create content to educate and engage with consumers on financial wellness topics such as insurance, investing, budgeting, saving and retirement.

Whether it is two long-time friends on different career paths, or a couple preparing to combine finances, the new podcast features candid conversations guided by host Claire Wasserman, John Hancock’s Money Talk Expert and founder of Ladies Get Paid, an organization that champions the professional and financial advancement of women. Podcast guests will tackle the honest, inspiring, and sometimes awkward conversations that result in discussing money goals, fears, habits, and even secrets.

“At a time when there are many uncertainties surrounding the economy and our future, having casual, honest conversations about something that intersects with so many aspects of our lives is extremely important,” said Wasserman. “I’m excited to work with John Hancock and be a part of fostering this meaningful dialogue as I hope the podcast encourages and empowers our listeners to have their own conversations with friends and family.”

To help guests – and listeners – navigate their relationships and experiences with money going forward, each podcast episode will feature a unique subject matter expert who can offer their advice on the topic. Some of the experts will include: Priya Malani, millennial money expert at Stash Wealth, Caryanne Keenan, career development coach and founder of LikeWorkSource, and Patrick Murphy, John Hancock Retirement CEO. The first three episodes of Friends Who Talk About Money are available starting today, featuring the following topics and guests:

1.     “Just Between Us:” Two friends talk about building each other up through work, life and money

2.     “One Big Happy Family Plan:” A family of four talks about how to divide (and conquer) family finance

3.     “Out Of Office:” Two best friends talk about their road to retirement and the sweet life once they get there

“At John Hancock, we believe it’s more important than ever to have real, raw and honest conversations about money. Sharing how much you make and what your goals are can often be taboo to discuss around the dinner table, and we want to change that narrative,” said Barbara Goose, Chief Marketing Officer, John Hancock. “We’re giving guests and listeners a platform to share their humanity, listen and hopefully learn from each other so they’re empowered to take control of their financial lives.”

New podcast episodes will continue to be released over the coming weeks. Friends Who Talk About Money can be found wherever podcasts are available. For more information, visit https://www.johnhancock.com/financial-advice/podcast.html.
