New graduate actuarial development program (ADP)
Designed to bring future business and technical leaders to the company, this rotational program gives new grads exposure to different divisions and departments. It’s designed to help you develop the skills you need for a successful actuarial career.


We employ top actuarial talent all over the world. In Canada, that includes positions in Toronto, Montreal and Kitchener-Waterloo; globally, we have roles in Boston and across Asia. We support ADP members financially as they complete the exams administered by the Society of Actuaries and co-sponsored by the Canadian Institute of Actuaries. We also offer mentorship and study support through our program committees and vast network of supportive Manulife leaders.


Actuarial co-op program
Participants get every chance to make valuable contributions to the development of our products and services. We hire first- to fourth-year university students with an actuarial focus for work terms in valuation, pricing, model vetting, audit and more. These positions can also be a pipeline into the Actuarial Development Program and are available in our Kitchener-Waterloo, Montreal, Boston and Toronto offices.

Recruitment for Actuarial co-ops takes place in January, May and September. Students not enrolled in a co-op program should apply in September to be considered for the summer internship program.

Advanced Analytics Development Program (AADP)
Do you want to help shape the future of analytics at Manulife? With our full-time 24-month program in data science and data engineering for graduates, you’ll get world-class experience in multi-dimensional, complex analytic initiatives at a global financial organization. Also, by splitting your time with us across two or three assignments, you will maximize your opportunity to acquire technical knowledge, understand business problems and make a real impact. Your first rotation will be at one of Manulife’s Divisional headquarters in Toronto, Waterloo, Boston or Hong Kong; your second and third rotation could be at any one of our operations in Canada, the United States or Asia.

Ready to apply? The AADP may be a good fit if you possess the following qualifications:

  • BS / MS / PhD in Math or Stats / Business / Computer Science Degree
  • Prior internship / co-op experience in Financial Services, Product Management, Operations, Asset Management, Risk Management, or Mergers & Acquisitions
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively influence
  • Driven to make an impact in a global organization

CPA new graduate rotational program
Are you just graduating from a university accounting or business program? We’re looking for exceptional leaders thinking about pursuing careers as CPAs.

The new graduate program is an exciting opportunity to learn about Manulife’s distinct businesses and experience a variety of finance functions through a series of formal rotations. You’ll work with a highly skilled team in a supportive learning environment, building key technical and business skills. Plus, we will support you with study time, mentorship and financial assistance for courses and exams as you work toward your accounting designation.

Finance & Accounting co-op program
Thinking about becoming a CPA? This program (available in Kitchener–Waterloo and Toronto) gives university and college students a chance to get real work experience in finance and accounting. It offers mentorship, networking opportunities, volunteerism, Lunch and Learns and a co-op project.

Manulife is a large company with many opportunities to do different types of work and to advance my career. The supervisors and managers are genuinely interested in helping me achieve my career objectives, and I’ve received lots of career advice from peers as well as management. Now that I have started my full-time position, I am getting new responsibilities on an almost monthly basis that will ultimately improve my knowledge and skills.

New graduate investment division rotational program (IDRP)
Do you have a passion for financial services and markets? This rotational program supports recent university business grads committed to getting a CFA designation. You’ll build technical knowledge and understand the asset origination and asset management businesses in the context of a large global financial services firm. Six-month rotations give you valuable experience in:

  • Portfolio management
  • Investment analysis
  • Marketing and client services
  • Support functions and back office


Investments analyst co-op and internship program
In this program, MBA and commerce students get a chance to support portfolio managers and get a preview of what it’s like to work in our Toronto-based Investment Division.

I had the opportunity to work with Manulife Asset Management’s Global Equity, Real Estate and Fixed Income Groups, as well as the Hancock Natural Resource Group in Boston. In each rotation, I was able to work with more than one analyst, which gave me exposure to a number of sectors and a variety of investment analysis styles. My analytical skills were tested continuously as I assisted analysts with research studies, conducted industry and firm-specific analysis and built financial models of current and future investment prospects.
The program let me build a broad understanding of the asset management business while gaining great experience and making real contributions through a variety of meaningful and challenging roles. My time in the program helped me better understand my own strengths, weaknesses and interests and left me well-equipped to continue on in my career at Manulife.

Build skills in Project Management and Consulting, Programming, Systems Administration, Systems Development, Business Analysis and Desktop Services and Support.


Information Systems (IS) co-op and internship program
Located in Kitchener-Waterloo, Montreal and Toronto, this program lets you learn from the most experienced, innovative professionals in the field. Positions include project coordinator, business analyst, business systems analyst, developer and designer. This program offers mentorship, networking opportunities, Lunch and Learns and a co-op group project.

I worked for Manulife for my last two co-op terms. As project controls officer, I applied my technical and communication skills. I was surrounded by great mentors who helped me develop my analytical thinking in determining business needs. Upon graduating, I was looking for a place where I could build on my existing experience as an analyst and grow both personally and professionally. Manulife offered me this opportunity with a new graduate position that gave me access to senior staff and training courses.

Manulife Asia LEAD (Leadership, Experience, Advocacy and Development)

Our future-focused graduate development program offers new grads business rotations, social learning and advocacy experience. It’s designed to help you develop the skills you need to advance into leadership roles.

We employ graduates, with less than two years of work experience, from schools across the globe who are eligible to work in China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan or Vietnam. 


Program Structure

Our 18-month graduate program allows our Management Associates (MA) to gain valuable experience. You can expect to:

  • Participate in three 6-month rotations, two within your local market and one overseas assignment in a regional office
  • Create and pitch a business case for a community cause that you would like to support
  • Partake in an exclusive series of classroom and experiential learning opportunities
  • Be partnered with a mentor from the senior leadership team to provide guidance for professional and personal development
  • Receive a final placement into management positions that are aligned to your career interests

My rotations have provided me with an amazing opportunity to take on high-level strategic tasks and develop practical skills. Not only was I able to understand the local business operations and challenges, I was able to increase my knowledge through my exposure to the regional office. It provided me with the opportunity to gain great insight into multiple areas of the business.
Having spent my first 6 months in the Hong Kong CIO/COO office, my projects focused on WHY and HOW we are transforming our customer experiences through technology. I was able to grow in my career through the opportunities to meet with agents, customers and operators to learn about the experiences and challenges they encountered on their transformation journey.
